Something new to Quake Live with the addition of the bounce pad on ctf3 is this bounce pad jump on either side of the map to allow any defender to quickly stock up on rockets and slugs which having to run from side to side.

qzdm6 archway bugs

Another CA tactic that I thought you may want to use on the ole so popular dm6 “the campgrounds”. This specific tactic or “bug” allows you to stick to the corner of the archway door in high spam areas allowing you to have entry without exposure. Also allows you to fool your enemies into thinking you have less health then you actualy do because of your distance from the prediction fire and nade spams.

I was asked by Jehar of TasyCast to discuss the Lock n Load Recall Challenge with him as well as some more aspects of Quake Live and the quake world. What started as an interview turned into a public conversation. So hats off to Jehar for getting to open up for the quake world. I hope my opinions are well accepted.

Guys, I highly recommend you following Jehar and the TastyCast project. This guy is a really community player. He does what he does for the communities benefit.

After loads of questions about how the hell you do this trick, i decided to post a snipit for you to watch over and over until you figure it out. The alternate version of this trick is called “The superman”, so i thought it was fitting to name this “The Noob”. ALternatively, Raz3r and I talked about adding this specific trick to his train map and he also wanted to see a demo of me doing this so he could watch it in slow motion. Hope you figure it out! And yes you have every potential of making a cap with this trick in 3 seconds.

This is a demo of n42h (its not nash). This dude was a really good player. I highly recommend watching for im in the arena,. He was one of the best ctf players I think Ive ever seen. Anyway, we’ve all seen this before, its the qzctf4 leftside pushpad cheat, but whats different here is, this guy not only strafed it once, he did it twice in a row completely around the map, and did this like it was nothing. Major props to this guy for his obvious years of practice on ctf4.

Strat Jumps a Tutorial by UnityNL

This is a tutorial video put together by Un1tyNL. The tut was performed on Razors Third Party training map for Quake Live raztrainql_beta3. This tut shows that the tricks in this map are possible without any modification to the ingame physics.

First let me send out a big shout to QuakeLive TV for their hospitality and extremely warm welcome. I must say I had a blast and I owe these guys greatly for asking me to go. It was definately a blast from the past, I caught up with Johnathan “Fatal1ty” Wendel who was also at QuakeCon2009 as nVidia’s featured spokesman, or should I say featured frag master, as well as several other players I hadnt seen in ages such as KnosSOS & JoyRock. Ive got loads of demos to dump to video. So I will try to get some of that posted as soon as possible.

This is a shoutcast of the FIRST EVER nVidia Instagib 5on5 CTF challenge in Quake Live. Unfortunately the tournament was prematurely ended due to an oracle error which caused Quake Live to be inaccessible for a short period of time due to the only person able to fix the problem was in bed asleep at the time.

qzctf10 Three easy jumps everyone knows or should

These are 3 little easy bitty jumps that if you don’t already know, then you should take the whole 15 minutes out of your life to learn them. The first is just a ricochet rocket jump off a jumpad. This jump is possible from both side with extreme ease. It can be used just as an easy way to get up to this particular point, or could even be used as a juke tactic while running the flag. The second is just a jump from the same catwalk side to the pipe deck between the flag and lightning gun. This was done without strafing, just regular jumps. No strafing skill required to make this jump. This jump could also be used as a stakeout spot or a juke jump. The third jump is also from the catwalk and it is basically just walk off the ledge and land on the lamp on the backside of the flag room below the pipe deck. This particular jump is fantastic for that surprise head shot when the enemy flag carrier comes around the corner and is expecting you to jump off the catwalk when instead your standing on the lamp waiting patiently for him to walk into his demise.

qzdm12 Rightside Strafe to Megahealth explained

This is a response to a question I received about this specific jump. Q: “Mayheam” how is it possible to jump for around the corner like that jump you did on dm12? I recorded this particular trick in 2 different views at 2 different speeds. The trick is really not that difficult once you learn how to do it. And of course there is a trick to every trick, and the trick here is to jump off the tiny little piece of detail area on the leftside of the jump pad bevel on the second level of dm12. The 3 jump strafe is not actually required to do this trick but it really helps push you in a straight line around that corner. The first time you do it, you’ll get the sensation that you just ran through a wall, and that sensation is not far from the truth.

Plasma Climbing 101 – The Basic Tutorial

In response to the dozens of comments and requests I got from TQL about plasma climbing, I decided to put together a brief tutorial that explains plasma climbing and climbing basics. The video itself is narrated but some people prefer to read so below I will go over the tutorial verbally.

Plasma climbing is simple. The knockback from the plasma gun as its fired gives you the ability to do a wide variety of tricks from small jumps, to climbing a wall. The technique is simple. Place your crosshair at a 45º angle, press jump and fire and the same time, and when you start to climb (immediately after you jump), release jump and continue to fire the gun. Your climbing. You may notice that you will move laterally on the wall based on 3 things. The radius of the wall, the direction of the plasma gun, and your strafe keys. Next you may take some advanced note and find out that an angle greater then 45º (moving the crosshair more onto the wall) the knockback from the gun becomes greater and it will push you away from the wall, go too far and it will throw you back away from the wall into maybe another wall or onto a platform. But by doing this just slightly you can slowly slide down the wall giving you a “hand break”. If you do the opposite of this and angle the gun less then 45º (moving the crosshair more towards the floor or your feet) you loose the knockback from the plasma gun and you will stop all together and just stay in place until you return the angle or fall off the wall.

In the future I may do another tutorial on the expert tactics with plasma climbing such as stalls, combo climbs, and strafe climbing. Hope you learned something with this.

qzdm18 Alternate Route to Quad

Another interesting trick I found recently while trying to pull off a different trick. At first I did this trick with a rocket then after a few more tries to perfect it, i screwed up and landed on the sign. Thus I realized, the rocket isn’t required at all! I will warn you in advance, this sucker is a pain in the arse to pull off, that sign is really narrow =).

Just a really simple strategy shortcut for getting up to the rocket launcher. For added kicks I added a circle jump to the lamp. This example is quite old but i find it surprising how many people have never seen it.

qzctf4 Yellow Armor Shortcut

This is 2 different versions of this strategy maneuver. First is directly to the middle yellow armor and the second is a delayed version, gives you an extra 2 seconds and in some cases will lead to your fooling your attacker into thinking that you fell to your death on the the attempt.

qzdm14 Red Armor Pit Defense Tactics

Just some really simple tactics that really give a player a leg up on this map while trying to cover both quad damage and the red armor. First is the entry, pad to window ledge, second is the red armor theft, pad to red armor, third is a juke tactic, fourth is another juke tactic, fifth is a quad area walk around for that easy shot in the back when trying to chase someone out of the quad room right before quad damage spawns.

qzdm17 Tripple rocket jump to quad damage

Probably one of the most attempted rocket jumps in the history of Quake. This trick was originally developed and mastered by sit back in 2000. I remember when sit was telling the story about how he came up with this trick in the shower. The trick itself is not extremely complicated, it takes more timing and a little finesse then anything else. This particular trick is not one of my favorites but its definitely an attention getter.

qzctf1 Mid jumps both ways

Two simple jumps for qzctf1. The first jump is a strafe jump of sorts that uses the details of the map to allow you to jump across the middle area where the red armor spawns. The second jump is the rocket jump version of this jump and in this specific jump I’m demonstrating the ease of this jump by doing the rocket jump nearly vertical at something close to 90 degrees.

I really don’t understand why but every time you get into a debate with someone about trick jumping and how good/bad you are at doing it, this particular jump gets brought up. Its not easy, but its not super hard either. So I’m posting it up just for the simple fact that I can.
