]]> As a brief overview Tritin Films has been making machinima style movies for the past decade and has recently present us with their newest release, “Arenas”. The basic story starts with the Doom saga as doom is sucked into the hands of the Vadrigar.

 The “Arenas” whose trailer is seen left has been an on going project of Tritin films for the past 3 years according to the films writer/director Joe Goss.

So what exactly is the Arenas Series?  Put simply its the Quake 1, 2, 3, and the Doom 1 story lines all mixed together into one storyline with the Doom being the main character in the film as he fights his way up through the tiers to find out if he can escape from his captor or end up being the top dog.

What is “machinima”?  It’s the art of making movies using the game engine.  Check out www.Machinima.com, there is an entire community devoted to making game based movies using the actual game engine.

How many films do you plan on making?  This is just the first season, 11 episodes in all for it.  The plan is for next season is to get our site rebuilt and include user feedback into the episodes in season#2. The next season we hope to be even better and more action packed. We have been working tirelessly on redoing alot of the models for the series, and we will be introducing them very soon.

Ok, Sarge looks bad ass, what did you do to him?  Both sarge and Visor are examples of what we are doing to all of the models used in “Arenas”.  We are sparing nothing with the detail that goes into these guys. We hope to be releasing some other new and improved models into the series very soon.

Have you had any gripes from the community about any details from the films?  Yes, the community griped about our useage of slow motion camera angles in some of the first episodes.  They were like, “this is quake, keep up the pace, no slow motion”.  I reworked some of the earlier films and got better responses so I think I’ve got a handle on what not to do in the future.  Right now our main focus is to just complete the first season so we can start working on the next.

I guess now the ultimate question is, what can we expect as a season finale?  Episode 10 will be on one of the most popular maps ever released in the quake game series, take a wild guess. Currently its under production but we are really working hard to make sure the season ends in a “bang”.  As you may have guessed, Doom will get his chance at a piece of Xaero, the rest well, you’ll have to wait an see.

]]> I was asked by Jehar of TasyCast to discuss the Lock n Load Recall Challenge with him as well as some more aspects of Quake Live and the quake world. What started as an interview turned into a public conversation. So hats off to Jehar for getting to open up for the quake world. I hope my opinions are well accepted.

Guys, I highly recommend you following Jehar and the TastyCast project. This guy is a really community player. He does what he does for the communities benefit.

]]> First let me send out a big shout to QuakeLive TV for their hospitality and extremely warm welcome. I must say I had a blast and I owe these guys greatly for asking me to go. It was definately a blast from the past, I caught up with Johnathan “Fatal1ty” Wendel who was also at QuakeCon2009 as nVidia’s featured spokesman, or should I say featured frag master, as well as several other players I hadnt seen in ages such as KnosSOS & JoyRock. Ive got loads of demos to dump to video. So I will try to get some of that posted as soon as possible.

This is a shoutcast of the FIRST EVER nVidia Instagib 5on5 CTF challenge in Quake Live. Unfortunately the tournament was prematurely ended due to an oracle error which caused Quake Live to be inaccessible for a short period of time due to the only person able to fix the problem was in bed asleep at the time.
